There’s always something exciting going on in NYC, even on a Tuesday night when you’re just easing back into the grind after a jam-packed weekend. Tonight, cool kids Russ Marshalek and Sophie Weiner (a.k.a. Silent Drape Runners) bring their popular live music show “Twin Peaks: The Beginning” to The Bell House for an evening of artsy entertainment, followed by a DJ set where you can dance the night away…well, at least until your bedtime.

The “Lynchian duo” will perform a new take on the Twin Peaks soundtrack, adding new tunes to those you probably already know. Live performances are always exciting since you know you are witnessing a moment that can never be recreated. Silent Drape Runners are showing the 21st century audience that live music accompaniment isn’t limited just to silent film. And with what better work than the dramatic, weird, and hypnotizing Twin Peaks??

This will be the last time the duo will be performing this show for the year (although they will be reprising their awesome Robyn Tribute Party next month). Twin Peaks: The Beginning will sell out, so you should get your tickets RIGHT NOW!

I think we can all agree that puppets liven up any form of entertainment: movies (yeah “Team America”!), musicals (“Avenue Q” is genius), and television (“The Muppet Show”). Several months ago I discovered Puppet Playlist, a live theater experience that combines puppetry and music. Each show has a specific theme – previous themes include The Beach Boys, David Bowie, & Country music – and features puppeteers and singer/songwriters interpreting with original puppet acts and live covers.

Puppet Playlist returns tonight (and with two performances tomorrow night) at The Connelly Theater with “Puppet Playlist #14: Divas.” If it’s going to be anything like a VH1 Diva’s special, I would love to see a puppet stand-off with lots of big hair and hands tracing the air as they hit the high notes.

Puppet Playlist sell out fast, so get your tickets now!
